The Sitemap has certain limitations. For example, it cannot contain more than 50,000 URLs and cannot be bigger than 10 MB. This is why if you plan to create a website with multiple subdirectories and Sitemaps, you will have to use Sitemap Index.

The Sitemap index allows you to include several Sitemap files under one file called Sitemap index. It uses almost the same syntax but instead of including your pages URLs, you will have to add the URLs to your Sitemaps.

What is a Sitemap?

For the purposes of this tutorial we will focus on Sitemap Protocol 0.9 introduced by SiteMaps.org which is a standard, validated and used by Google and most other search engines.

A Sitemap allows you to create a file hosted among the other files in your account that informs the search engines of all pages your website contains. In other words, it provides the search engine with detailed information about the content of your website.

Although Sitemaps are mainly used to improve the index process of your website by search engines, they can be used to provide accessibility to certain pages as well. For example, pages that are not accessible via your menus, can be indexed by the search engine if you want.

The Sitemap does not affect the normal way crawler bots index your page – it just extends the visibility and accessibility of your content.

Hello Friends, I have Made Many WordPress Theme But Never Released Them Online For Free Download As I sold Them To My Clients And I have Signed The Agreement Not To Sold Or Not To Release Online For Free Download But From Today I Have Decided To Design Some Special Kinds Of WordPress Theme For My Online Friends And Other Visitors Of My Website. So Yesterday I Have Completed My One Design and Today I Have Tested On My Server And Its also Working Fine And I Have Rectified Small Bugs And tried My Best To Give This Theme A Look Of Orkut But I didn’t Make The clone of Orkut But Its looks Like Orkut, As I found There are many WordPress Theme Available Online Which Are Similar To FaceBook, Myspace And Other Social Sites But I found There Is No Theme Available Online Which Looks Like Orkut, So I made a Theme Which Is Look Little Bit Like Orkut. Hope You Will Like It, Currently I Have No Time Design More As I Am working On A Big Project But I promise In the next Month I will Make Much Modification To This Theme And Try My Best to Add Many features Which Is Available In Orkut But It will Take Some Time But I will Do it Soon.
